One of the common challenges you may have with your tagging strategy is that you have project delivery teams focused on delivering new solutions and a FinOps team who are trying to get the costs under control. Both teams need to be able to use resource metadata such as tags so that they can achieve their aims.
Each team trying to use tags will often create a friction point where teams can get in each others way.
Ideally both teams would be able to work in their own way without tripping each other up. A common scenario is that the DevOps team makes a deployment which removes a tag that the FinOps team had added.
