Unused Disks

Problem

A new customer getting started with Turbo360 was surprised to see a lot of idle and unattached disks showing up in their environment.

Analysis

Within a day of getting started with Turbo360 there was a lot of low hanging fruit cost savings showing up in the various recommendations within Turbo360.

Below is an example from a demo environment of the Turbo360 other recommendations feature which helps flag up waste and helps you keep on top of house keeping.

You can also see that the rightsizing feature in Turbo360 will identify that some disks appear idle based on the usage metrics.  Below is an example of this from the demo environments.

The customer was able to execute some of these change recommendations and save money immediately.

Solution

Turbo360 created visibility for the teams of their wasted spend.  They were able to immediately clear up a lot of it and make some savings.

In the case of the customer this example is based on, they were able to make thousands per month of savings just by cleaning up these unattached disks.

Going beyond that however, there is a house keeping activity.  They will be deploying more projects in the future and they need it to be easy for their teams to keep on top of the areas they own and to deal with waste quickly and efficiently.

This customer had these unattached disks lying around for a long time before anyone noticed them and without Turbo360 it may have been a lot longer before they were noticed too because no one was directly accountable for the clean up and the issue was too hidden away to notice it.
